Cherry (Nattu)

  • Place of origin: Mexico
  • Description: Trees grow to about 4 m with beautiful leaves and flowers resembling strawberry flowers, and with small cherry like fruits that are extremely sweet.
  • Grow best: Easy to grow in any soil and any condition.


  • Use: Fruits are eaten or made into jams, tarts, pies while the leaves and flowers find use in Ayurveda. Trees are also used for ornamental purposes in landscaping as the short trees have huge crowns almost touching the ground and give excellent shade.
