  • Place of origin: Tropics and subtropics.
  • Description: Miniature Begonia sp. grow to 12 in with small, rounded tubers, irregularly lobate brightly colored leaves and attractive, single or double layered flowers in various colours with frilled petal edges. More than 1500 species exist.
  • Grow best: By propagation of stem and even leaf cuttings and by seeds. Does well outdoors with shade and partial sunlight. Water just enough. Use well-drained, light but rich soil.
  • Use: Indoors, in window boxes or as bedding in shaded outdoor gardens.
