- Place of origin: Native to the forests, mountains and deserts of Central and South America, the southern United States and the West Indies. Belongs to Tillandsia species which are evergreen, perennial flowering plants in the Bromeliaceae family.
- Description: The foliage is numerous, forming a dense pseudobulb rosette up to 20cm in diameter. The inflorecent is simple-spiked, almost cylindrical 12cm long; flowers in a spiral. The petals are blue, upright, inclining into 5cm long tube.
- Grow best: Likes bright, sunny position with moderate damp. Propagate from pups.
- Use: Perfect for terrariums, cork bark, driftwood or held singly in art wire décor or art glass orbs.
